Meeting minutes from our board meeting that was held on June 14, 2022.
BOARD ATTENDEES: Mike Hajduk, Shane Taylor, Kathy Wilemon, Laurence Rook, Heather Leiding, Billy & Stephanie Smith
Meeting called to order: 7:06 PM
1. Election of a new treasurer
- Nomination of a new treasurer was made and voted on by the Board.
- Heather Leiding was elected Treasurer for WHOA.
- Heather will manage the HOA PO Box going forward.
- Kathy will assume secretarial duties from Heather.
2. Sprinkler update
- Last 2 sections of concrete on Cummings have been repoured.
- David Smith with the City will take care of concrete on Channing as well.
- Sprinkler repairman has finished the zone that 1st sprinkler controller is on.
- Some sprinkler heads in 2nd zone are surrounded by roots, need to be disconnected.
- There is a break in the water line at Cummings and McClain.
- David Smith meeting w/Mike next Tuesday to assess this issue as well as some minor leaking.
- Mike has asked Castle Lawn to price adding sod in areas on Cummings that receive sun and grinding of several stumps that are still in these areas.
- Areas between fence and sidewalk – possibly plant dwarf mondo grass or something easily maintained to improve the look of these areas.
- Mike will purchase small number of plants to test along a section of the fence.
3. Tree attention
- There are currently 5 dead pines and a dead red oak.
- To remove them will cost $7000. This includes stump removal, grinding.
- To wait a year would require use of a bucket to remove trees, cost will double.
- Vote was taken & removal of dead trees now was approved.
- Many of the other pines have root rot, pitch canker and pine beetles.
- We consulted Arbor Masters and Treenewal re treatment.
- We will get a 3rd bid for a treatment plan from Tree Surgeons.
4. Tasks and committees – we will take this up in the next meeting
5. Website update
- Site update is 90% done.
- We are staying with our original online service.
- We can now use WordPress through them, enabling Laurence to do updates from any device.
- Mike and Laurence reviewed websites from other HOAs and are determining what we will need/want for our website.
- The ACC request form will be form fillable directly on the website.
6. Yard of the Month rule change
- Board member yards may be included in the vote but members can’t vote for themselves.
- A motion was made for this change, was voted on and approved.
- Kathy will take care of the YOTM program while Mike is out of town.
7. Open discussion and miscellaneous
- Mike will assume email communications for the WHOA with news, updates.
- Mike will begin sending Newsletters in the coming weeks/months.
- Possible quarterly socials and various neighborhood get-togethers were discussed.
