Hi to our Wendover Homeowner’s Association residents. Hope this finds everyone safe and healthy.
Congratulations to Brad and Patsy Nelson of 1317 Cummings Drive on winning the August Yard of the Month recognition. They are long time resident of Wendover and Brad actually served on the board many years ago. Their property always looks great even with this lack of rain (until yesterday) we have all experienced. They received a $50 Callaway Nursery gift certificate for their efforts. Thanks to everyone for keeping our neighborhood looking great!
You may have noticed that things are progressing on our common areas, namely the corner of Forest Ridge and Cummings. There were 5 dead trees requiring removal along with their stumps. We also had the arborists treat the current trees for fungus and to fertilize in an attempt to keep the trees healthy going forward. Now that the stand of trees is very mature, there is overcrowding and intertwining of the roots which have stressed the beautiful trees we have at the entrance to our community. Proper watering and fertilizing will continue. Speaking of watering, I believe we finally have all the sprinklers working on Cummings from Forest Ridge to McLain and on the Forest Ridge parts of our neighborhood. If anyone sees a broken head or what looks like an improper spray, please contact me or someone on the board immediately and we will remediate.
We will be working with our landscaping company to in-fill some of the bare spots created by the tree removal and lack of a working sprinkler system, which now works.
There was a “Morning with the Mayor” meeting at the library this past Saturday morning and about 50 residents met with Mayor Boyter to discuss anything from the new Generations Park to property values to road re-paving. He promised to do them on a regular basis now that things are getting back to normal. I encourage you to attend these sessions since they are the direct line to things going on and planned for Bedford. Mayor Mike listens to every comment and if you want things done or changed, this is your opportunity to be heard.
The Wendover Board of Directors will have their next meeting on August 23rd at 7PM. If you wish to have an issue addressed by the board, please let me know the issue and your concerns and we will discuss it at our meeting. We have a new website under development and as before, all Board meetings minutes are on the site. Please bear with us as our fellow resident Laurence Rooks make those changes. Thanks to Laurence for his time and effort to improve and update our site.

Trash and Recycling Reminders
Let’s talk trash! Here are a few reminders regarding trash and recycling services:
- Make sure your trash and recycling materials are at your curb by 7 a.m. on your scheduled pick-up days.
- Republic Services’ collection hours are between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. This means, your trash pick-up is not considered “missed” for the day until after 7 p.m.
- When not in use, make sure your containers are either located behind fences, walls, shrubbery, etc. and out of public view.
- If you ever forget which day your collection schedule is or need more info about trash/recycling services, go to -> www.bedfordtx.gov/trash
If you typically have your garbage picked up around a certain time every week, but notice some days it’s being picked up later, that’s okay!
There are a few reasons why your trash pick-ups occur at different times including larger than usual trash set-outs (which require the trucks to dump at the landfill more frequently), routes running in a different order, employee shortages, or a new driver is learning a route.
